VARELSE – IKEA Dare to dream installation at WDV24

NAME: Varelse
Project: Installation for IKEa at vienna design week 24
YEAR:2024
CILENT: IKEA AUSTRIA & VIenna design week 24

“Varelse” is a serene, minimalist installation that breathes through a modified IKEA MITTZON table, gently expanding and contracting in a neutral, dreamlike rhythm. Almost every component—pillows, mattresses, and other IKEA sleep products—remains in its original packaging, allowing these elements to be reused or even returned to the store as if new. Only the table, a set of speakers, and four sewn-together sheets stand apart, symbolically contrasting the pristine conditions of the packaged items. In doing so, the installation not only underscores a commitment to sustainability and thoughtful design, but also prompts visitors to consider what truly defines “newness” and how our perception of value and authenticity is shaped in a world increasingly mediated by machines and commerce.
